Back to the Grind...

Tomorrow I will be heading back to work. Back to the grind. After being on 'vacation' for a week. I say vacation, only in the sense of being away from my day job. Bryant was off from school this past week, so I thought that it would be good to spend some time together. I put this week at home to good use. I got a lot of my Spring cleaning done. I was 'bustin' my butt' and I have the sore muscles to prove it. I know this will pay off in the many weekends of nice weather ahead. I did get a lot home work done and didn't get to do as much scrappin' done as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong we had lots of fun time and I even got some reading in too! I did manage to scrap a couple of LO's this weekend.

This first one I did was inspired by a LO I saw on my friend Jonnelle's blog. I used the Marrakech line by Basic Grey. Love the colors of this line and how 'boy' it is (when so many paperlines are 'girly). It matched so perfectly with this pic of Bryant, with his cool new hat and sunglasses:

The LO was based on this sketch. Love this:

Also played around with a little more Basic Grey. This time it was with the Granola line. Love the earthy look of this line. I had this great pic of Bryant looking so serious and I just had to scrap it:

So all in all, I got a lot accomplished. I also started a new project this past week. That would be re-doing Bryant's room into a 'big boy' room. That is still a work in progress. I hope to post pics soon. Now I need to get some sleep. Here's to a great week! :-)

BASB...Challenge #11

This time around the challenge is being hosted by the very lovely and very talented LaVerne . The challenge is: Something OLD something NEW, something BORROWED, something BLUE. Not necessarily in the true context of the saying. Interpret it any way you choose. For example, here is my LO:

Something OLD: that would be the silly photo of my son. It was taken a couple of years ago and I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to scrap it. :-)

Something NEW: that would be the way I used the old rickety fence punch as a border around the picture. I just saw this technique used in the new issue of BHG Scrapbooks, etc. Loved this idea! :-)

Something BORROWED: that would be the idea for my LO from the LO below. This was a page I had ripped out and saved from an old issue of BHG Scrapbooks, etc. Love this magazine!! :-)

Something BLUE: that would be my favorite color, which I used a lot of on this LO!!! :-)

This is a really unique challenge. Come play along. LaVerne has a phenominal RAK for one lucky winner. No joke. You definately will want to check this out!! You can check it out here: BASB

I also wanted to share this LO:

I am always looking for fun, useful and unique ways to scrap my photos. This is a challenge that Davinie hosts every month on her blog. It is bascically to scrap about the prior month. A great way to use and display your 'project 365' photos. She also does a random prize drawing for all who play along. Very fun indeed!

So if you're looking for some fun challenges or maybe a little mojo, then definately check these challenges out. You'll be glad that you did!! :-)

Day Trippin'

On Sunday, we took a little family trip up to the White Mountains area of New Hampshire. It was a beautiful day. Lots of clear blue sky:

Steve's parents and grandparents grew up in the Lincoln/Woodstock area. So usually we site see a little around town, to see how much has changed. Though this is not anyone in his familys' house, it is right around the corner from where his Mom grew up. The rainbow house. Yes it does stick out like a sore thumb:

Then we we headed to some of the 'main street' shops. Steve found this very cool 'old man on the mountain' and had to have it. It now hangs outside above our porch:

We can not forget the candy store. This little 'hole in the wall' has some of the best homemade goodies:

Behind the stores is the Pemigewasset river It runs all through the towns:

This sign may look funny, but not so funny if you are cruising down the highway and a moose comes running out of the woods:

Next we we went to the highest elevation point and checked out the view:

Nature at it's best. This pic does not do it any justice:

Me and Bryant:

Steve and Bryant. He soooo wants Bryant to see this and enjoy it:

Then we went to the gorge and checked out another area of the river:

Bryant loved the 'rock climbing' and fast water. It was very cool:

This was a beautiful view from the bridge above:

One last close up view:

It was a great day! Lots of walking. Lots of sight seeing. Lots of history. It was beautiful out. Once it gets a little warmer, we will head up for some trail climbing. Nature at its finest. Have a great week!

Christmas...in April

I am very fortunate to have two best friends. I am also very fortunate that live close by. They each live about 45 minutes away (in opposite directions), but still close by. Even though they are close, we still do not get see each other often enough. Our life schedules 'get in the way'. Well, last weekend my friend Stacy and I made the time for a visit and to exchange Christmas gifts. Christmas you say? I told we were busy! Anyways, do you remember this kit that Teresa Collins designed for retail stores, using her newest Christmas line? I bought the kit for Stacy and was only able to give it to her now.

I already had most of the items in the kit already, so I made one for myself this past January:

I could not post it til now:

I wanted Stacy to be surprised.

She loves it I can not wait to see what she does with hers!

Look what I got from Stacy!! Isn't it beautiful!!!

I LOVE this bracelet! It is all about the 'footprints' poem. Do you remember that one. Everyone I know had it hanging in their house when I was growing up. I have had a lot of recent personal tragedies in my life and this sentiment means alot to me. To know that Stacy is there for me, no matter how far away, no matter what. That is what best friends do. This is an everyday reminder, though I do not need one. Thanks Stacy!!

Easter '09

Easter was really good for my favorite little guy. He woke up to all these cool goodies:

He was especially excited about the Star Wars Clone Trooper helmet full of Easter eggs:

He loved his new Sponge Bob shower soap and toothbrush (a yearly tradition):

He even got a special basket from Daddy:

Lots of cool stuff in there:

Mom even got a basket from Daddy:

Lots of cool Red Sox baseball stuff in there. Tis the season:

Then off to Grammy and Grampy's house. It seems that the Easter Bunny left him a little something there too:

More cool stuff! This kid raked:

After a nice dinner with family, we finished off the afternoon by coloring eggs. They came out beautiful (if I do say so myself):

I hope everyone had a nice Easter. Spring is just about here...enjoy the rest of your week!

Sketchy Beginnings

Happy Friday! I wanted to share a couple of LO's I did based on sketches. I love to use sketches as a base, my own or someone elses. Actually this first LO, simple as it is, is a combo of a sketch I saw here and 2 challenges. The first challenge is on the BASB site. The challenge there is to use stamps on a page (no pattern paper allowed-cardstock only!) This is how it began and then I saw the sketch and the ideas started flowing. The other challenge you can find here. This challenge is to use those paper punches. Whether it be shapes or borders, and I did a litlle of that too. I even handwrote my title ala Heidi Swapp (Love her!) Though again very simple, this LO took me forever to make:

This sketch challenge was on the Studio Calico blog. I saw lots of cool takes on this sketch. I actually flipped the sketch on its side. I got to use some more of my favorite October Afternoon paper and finally scrapped this photo of Bryant meeting Tim Holtz a little over a year ago:

and....speaking of Studio Calico. This came yesterday. The Peter Piper add on kit. Yes, I said add on. I did not get the main kit this this month, but I could not walk away from this 'boyish kit'. How cool right??!!

So...lots more creations are in store. My new Scarlet Lime kit will be here tomorrow. I can not wait! It is so pretty! Easter in a few days. Lots more photo ops and lots of family time. Should be fun. Enjoy your weekend. Spend some time being creative if you can. :-)
***Just found out that I won! What did I win you say? I won a subscription to the very cool BOHO MAGAZINE. from Georgana of adornit's Friday Findings column. Love this new idea colomn she has!!***

Life is good

I finally finished this cute little project and sent it off to someone special, for playing along with this. I hope she likes it. It is a little six by six album made with some of the new Bo Bunny papers and a Cosmo Cricket Blackboard chipboard album. Of course. I threw in a Prima flower, some bling and a cute butterfly (that I got in one of my Scarlet Lime kits.) It was hard to give away, but I know it is going to a good home. All that is needed is to add pics and journaling. Life is good. LOL!

Speaking of the good life...did you see my favorite idol this week...

When he recieved this? Platinum baby!

Rock on. Life is good. Have a wonderful weekend!
***Even more good stuff...check out this new column called Friday Findings. It is a fun new idea from Georgana from Adornit. She will be sharing new fun and crafty ideas every Friday. LOVE this!! What a great way to get inspired.***
