I Survived....

yet another race weekend in Loudon, NH. It is all about being up and out very early and home late fot 2 days straight, with lots of Nascar eye candy and oh ya, some racing thrown in. We started early with a huge amp (Dale Jr) energy drink. This was a great kick start!

One can never have enough Dale Jr:

Or even watching him do his real job. This was just practice. It was a beautiful day!

My main man and #1 one Nascar driver is Tony Stewart. This was my first time seeing him in his new owner/driver ride. This too was only a practice run.

Of course, I had to buy all new gear and boy, did I. I got shirts, a sweatshirt, stickers, a new ticket holder, a coffee cup and pics. I have been saving up for a while, just for this occasion. Tony is my other hobby/obsession!

Steve and I were also able to (finally!) get our hands on these. It is called a Nascar Sprint Fanview. They are Nascar race scanners that you can use at the race. Normal scanners allow you to hear what drivers & their crew chiefs are saying. This allows that too. It also has video that shows the tv broadcast and in car camera. Look, I am watching Tony at work-Live! LOL! Very cool I must say!

Unfortunately, the race ended in rain. They did not get the whole race in, but they got most of it in. Here is my view of pit road, just prior to them calling the race due to rain.

And here I am, just as happy as ever. A true blue Nascar fan!

Just another view of Tony at work:

Here is Tony in front of his old ride (#20 Home Depot car)

And speaking of that old ride. Joey Lagano (the new young rookie driver) was the winner of the race. His first win! I am so happy for Tony's old crew. They were with Tony for 10 years and now they are adjusting to a new young driver. I will always have a place in my heart for the Home Depot team. Loved this pic I found of Tony (and Joey) congratulating his old crew chief and friend. Very COOL indeed!

So, I survived. I am home, nice & dry and recouperating! I am already looking forward to my next race in September. I hope it does not rain this time!!

BASB...Challenge #15

This time around I will be hosting the BASB challenge. I hope that you will come play along. As you know, I recently took an online class with Christy Tomlinson that was all about color. Different and unique combinations of color. I really enjoyed it and was so inspired. While taking this class I was constantly shopping my stash to create different color combos and very different LO's for me. Also, while shopping my stash, I started to put aside all things teal. Here are just some of the items that I gathered. I really loved how they all looked together. The idea was to use them together for a future project. I really wasn't sure at the time.

That project became this LO:

Thus, becoming the next BASB challenge. A monochromatic color challenge. You can check out all the details here. Oh, and did I mention there is a very cool prize? All of this can be yours! The new Traveler line by Little Yellow Bicycle. Isn't it awesome?!!

So, go shop your stash. See what you can come up with. I am really looking forward to seeing what you create (and finding a home for this great prize pack!) You have two weeks. The deadline is June 30th. Who doesn't love a good challenge???

Happy Monday!!

just a random happy dawn post...

Let me start with a big WOO HOO!! My man Tony Stewart won his first race (that counts anyways) as a team owner/driver this past Sunday. That is huge! This girl is so proud!! Go Tony Go!!!

I love this picture of Bryant. We love our funny signs. Yes they are funny, but they really are real too!!

Tonight my #1 Red Sox player, Josh Beckett is pitching against the Yankees...

My favorite Summer programs are back! That would be Saving Grace, The Closer, Leverage and Rescue Me!

Oh, and though I did not order the Studio Calico kit this month, I did order their exclusive Carter Alphabet stamps and I finally got a Fiskers Apron Lace punch. Woo Hoo! Thanks SC! I did however get my hands on the Piggy Tales (very boy!) June kit. Look at all the good stuff!! They are my favorite scrap company at the moment. Insert happy dance here. More on them in a future post.

Well, for those of you who are interested, I was not chosen as a finalist, in the 2 sketches 4 you card contest (from the prior post). Oh well. I now have a cool card And it also was made with Piggy Tales scrappin' goodies. Insert another happy dance here. Did I mention they are my new favorite?

Also, did I mention that my man Tony won the race this past Sunday? Yes, I guess that I did. But, I did not tell you that he is first place in the standing at this very moment. I will be seeing him race live in just a couple of weeks!

Go Tony! You ROCK!!

Now I gotta go watch me some Red Sox and eat a yummy steak dinner. Have a wonderful evening...

The Good Stuff

So the girls from the BASB were playing around with some scrap challenge ideas this past weekend and came up with a pretty good list. All in fun, to inspire each other. The LO below I created combing two of the challenges together. The first one was to do a LO using a picture without a person in it. The second challenge was a menu challenge. I had never participated in a menu challenge. It was a very cool idea. The concept was a four course meal. You pick one item off each of the four lists and those items are then matched up with the four items you use to create your LO. My list went like this:

1.) Beverage (starting point/base of your page)
My Choice-Beer/Big Girl Drink-A shaped paper/Diecut paper

2.) Appetizer-(# of photos)
My Choice-Spinach Dip & Chips-3 pics

3.) Entree (technique)
My Choice-Steak & Mashed potatoes-Stamping

4.) Dessert (Embellishment)
My Choice-Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie-Ribbon

So here is my combo LO. I used a Noteworthy diecut paper. I have three photos. I stamped the title. I used ribbon as the bow on the chipboard flower and under the striped paper strip at the bottom of the page. Of course, the 'no person' photos are of my favorite coffee Dunkin Donuts. Yummo!

Okay, So I do not buy as many magazines as I used to, but every so offten, I leaf through an old one and get inspired, all over again. I love this LO by Vicki Boutin from a Scrapbooks, etc mag from last year and I based my LO above on it. I did add alot of extra goodies on mine, like the Prima felt border & swirly bling and the crocheted flower & the chipboard flower. I like lots of stuff. LOL!

I have the day off today. A day to myself. WOO HOO. I think I will catch up on some reading and maybe scrap some more.

What a concept. I know!

Happy Friday!!
