A Sweet Little RAK for Moi

I discovered Nancy Vandenberg when she was on the design team for Junkitz and I have been a fan ever since. Anyone that knows me, knows that Junkitz and Basic Grey are the 2 companies that I was drawn to when I began scrapbooking. Anyways, Nancy has been offering some really great card tutorials on her blog and I have been having the best time playing along. This past one was one of my favorites. I even won a prize from Nancy. Look at all these Junkitz goodies and embellies. These items are going to make some really great future cards. Thanks Nancy!

Remember this? This was my version of the card:

You can check out her class here.. I loved how this card came out, but have not been able to give it away...yet.

A New Favorite Project & a Tag

Here is a project that I had been working on (a little bit everynight) over the past week. I got a picture from my friend Heather, of her and her husband and created this LO with the fabulous Granola line from Basic Grey and some beautiful Prima embellishments. I framed it up, gave it to her for her Birthday and now it sits in her office looking pretty. This was a project that I was truly happy with the result. I was so excited to give it to her and so happy that she loved it!

This week I've been tagged by my sweet friend Nancy (thanks girl, this was so fun!). I thought that this would be something really cool to try! It's such a fun tag!!!! It's called "Photo" Tagging!
The RULES are to go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures. Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.Tag 6 other people that you know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

This picture is of Bryant and I a couple of years ago at our hotel pool, while we were vacationing in Charlotte, NC. We are huge Nascar fans and we had the best time checking out all the race shops in the heart of Nascar country. We also enjoyed time in the pool, 'cause it was so HOT there. Steve took the pic of us (he never goes swimming!) B and I love it!

So now I tag Liz , Debbie, Diana , Jonnelle, Tami and Anilu ! Can not wait to see what pics you gals come up with!
Happy weekend!!! Wish I was at CHA...

BASB...Challenge #5

The newest BASB challenge is from the amazing Ki . Her challenge is to create a LO with just one piece of patterned paper. You can embellish the LO anyway that you wish, but you can not use any other paper (patterned or cardstock). Just ONE piece! Here is my take on the challenge:

I scrapped about my newest favorite ornament using mostly items from my December Scarlet Lime Kit and a few other goodies from my stash (Heidi Swapp metalic chipboard letters, a Jenni Bowlin calendar card and Making Memories journaling paper). This was a challenge for me. Wow, one piece of paper, but then it just came together and I loved the result. Check out the challenge and the other FAB LO's from the gals here, They are truly awesome!

Honoring Aleida

Well, after hearing about this for the past week or so, I finally got my hands on it. IT would be the latest issue of CK magazine. The February issue has an article about 5 scrapbookers that have a made a diference in the world. The first person featured was my friend Aleida. She was killed in a car accident this past September. This was so upsetting to her family and friends. Aleida had a lot of friends and I am happy to say that I was one of them. She has connected me with a group of friends that I treasure and I am so thankful for that! Love you girls!!

Okay, the article is truly a disappointment to me. First off the LO was done by someone that did not know Aleida.Though the pics were supplied by her husband, I think they should have had the LO made by someone that really knew her, family or friend. The article did convey her great online presence and all the friends she had made through this great hobby. She made many friends through many sites. I, myself got to know her through SIS TV . She was also on the DT for Scrappin' the Music. The only site that was mentioned in the article was Studio Calico. Don't get me wrong, Studio Calico is a great online community. All the gals are sweet and welcoming, but to me the site being mentioned (more than once!) sounded more like an advertisement. I guess I was really looking for more. The very short article, written by someone that does not know her, did not really portray the real spirit of Aleida. I am truly disappointed. Okay, I will get off my soapbox now. If you have read the article...what do YOU think??

Resolutions

This is LO that I did for a Resolutions Challenge over at Studio Calico. I LOVED the idea of scrapping my hopes and plans for the New Year. The idea for the LO came to me instantly and it all came together in a flash. I knew exactly what I wanted to do and loved the result. A New Year always makes me excited for all that is to come. What are your resolutions??

Faves of 2008

I saw a post on Nicole Harper's blog about a challenge out there to pick your top ten LO's/projects from 2008. I did this last year too. You can see my 2007 list here. Here are my pics for 2008. It was really hard to choose. There are so many that I really enjoyed and I had a hard time narrowing down the list.

A goal of mine this past year was to create more LO's with pictures of myself. Document my life too. Kind of hard when I am always behind the camera. Here is just a simple LO I made using Teresa Collins papers and some Prima bling. I got to be little girly and was so happy with the result:

This LO is of my BFF and I at a Kenny Chesney concert this past April. We had the best time!

This is a picture of my friends Debbie, Debbie and I at CKC Manchester:

We LOVE David Cook in this house and really enjoyed rockin' out with him on American Idol:

This past Summer my son decided he wanted a mohawk. Of course I had to document that! Plus I had a lot of fun playing with a little grungeboard:

I also had fun playing around with a little sketch I found online, some pretty Pink Paislee papers and a pic from my office. Glad I did this then, because I have a new office now:

My friend Judi sent me these papres and embellies for my B-day and I decided to use them for the Scrappin' The Music challenge at the time, The song was 'It's My Life' by Bon Jovi:

The best birthday present I ever got was my opportunity to go to CHA Summer. I met so many fabulous people! it defiately was 'The Time of My Life' and again, I played along at Scrappin' The Music ". I actually won the RAK for this LO:

Another company that I am really LOVING is October Afternoon. I was really drawn to these papers and I had to have them. Here is my new address book:

I love the card workshops that Nancy Vandenberg has on her blog. I decided to take this one a little further and create a LO instead. LOVED the ambrosia line by Basic Grey:

Last, but definately not least is a LO I created for my challenge over at the BASB. It was to put together a kit from your stash and create a LO or card (or both) with it. I had a lot of FUN with this and used up a lot of odds and ends from my stash:

Okay, so it ended up really being eleven. Oh well. I had a lot of fun scrapping this past year and look forward to a lot more this year. This truly is the best hobby!!

BASB...Challenge #4

The latest challenge at the BASB is to 'go green', or 'trash to treasure'. So basically take something that you would normally throw away and get creative!

Here is what I did. Though this is not totally my idea, I had a bit of a different take on it. I started with some plastic packaging (that I was going to throw away anyways!), some rub-ons ( I have tons of these!) and my Quickutz:

First, I rubbed the rub-ons all over the plastic (in no particular fashion):

Next, I used my Quickutz to cut out the letters that are to be my LO title:

I LOVE the random 'snowy' look of them. I used silver rub-ons with a black background, but you could make so many color combos. All being so unique and different. Here is a close-up of my title:

and...ta da... my completed LO. Of course, I also used the fabulous Scarlet Lime November kit (I just LOVE the colors!):

I had seen this idea used before for embelishments, but never for letters. So, I thought that it would be different. This is my take on the challenge. Give this a try or create something of your own. We would really LOVE to see what you come up with. There is still time. You have until January 14th. Oh, and did I mention there is a really cool prize for the winner? You can check out the challenge post here. Good Luck and have FUN!

December Daily-Days 21 through 31

Happy Monday!! Back to work after a long holiday vacay. It wasn't so bad. I survived!
I wanted to share the remaining pages from my December Daily.
Day 21 & 22-We got another small snowstorm, but enough for outdoor fun the next day:

Days 23 & 24-Finally got to go for a visit with Santa and Christmas Eve we must never forget the cookies and milk for Santa:

Days 25 & 26-One very happy little boy on Christmas day and I also wanted to share my newest (and simplest) favorite ornament:

Days 27 & 28-A last look at our pretty tree and Bryant's newest friend from Build a Bear:

Days 29 and 30-We loved this snowman in the Applebees (restaurant) lobby and a new (toy decoration) Santa from my Aunt:

Day 31-It snowed quite a bit, which was fine. We stayed home and relaxed and watched the ball drop from the comfort of our livingroom.

Loved this project and had a great time documenting the month. You can see the complete album here. Now I am going to try to document the whole year. If I can do this, I think it will make an awesome year in review. Don't you? Hey, I made a rhyme..hahaha..Yes I am tired. Have a wonderful evening. :-)

A Pretty Card, A New Project and MY Word for 2009

The most creative cardmaker I know is Nancy Vandenberg . She makes the most AMAZING cards! So when she offers a card tutorial on her blog, I am always inspired to join in. Here is my take on her latest card. I loved this design!

I don't get to scrap with pink very much, so I guess this was my chance to go a little wild. I used some bright papers from Hambly, Lil Davis and some pretty Prism cardstock that I got in a kit from Sis tv called 'Rock Star'. I Love how funky and fun they are. Of course I had to add some aqua bling. A girl can never have enough bling! LOL! Here is a top view of the card. Again really loved this design! You can check out Nancy's class here.

I also wanted to share 2 things that I have decided to try this year. One is 'project 365' (taking a photo a day for the whole year). This will make a great year in review next January. Check out my friend Debbie's here for 2008. Love this idea!

I also picked One Little Word (MY word for the year). I picked 'express'. Not as in fast, but as in expressing myself through projects, writing and speaking. I am going to do my best to follow through on both of these. Wish me luck!

December Daily Days 8 through 20

I wanted to share some more pages from my December Daily. Though December is over and my mini book is completed, I had gotten behind on showing the results. When sickness runs through your whole household, everything else seems to take a backseat. We are all feeling much better now, so I wanted to jump back in and share some of things that I had been able to work on.

Pages 8 & 9-A cute pic of Bryant with his candycane Oreos. YUM! and a co-worker of mine did not want us to forget the "reason for the season". So true!

Pages 10 & 11-Nutcracker scenery that Bryant helped paint at the YMCA and a sweet ornament that he made for me. So cute!

Pages 11 & 12-A bad ice storm we had. Though the pics look pretty, it was very dangerous and a lot of people lost power for days/weeks. Luckily we only did for one day. The next day we were at a small Christmas party and Bryant got lots of cool toys!

Pages 14 & 15-Bryant with his half brother Stevie and the day we finally set up our tree!

Pages 16 & 17-Some cute hats of co-workers and our tree in the caf at work. I love the Patriot hard hat tree topper!

Pages 17 & 18-I know there are 2 (pg 17's), but I also loved the Christmas cupcakes that were made for our Christmas potluck at work! I also love these huge toy soldiers that stand in the center of town in Hudson, NH every Christmas.

Pages 19 & 20-My last ride home from work before my vacation for the holiday's was a little scary, with bad weather, but when I got home Bryant had a little gift for me.
The next night I saw this very cool lit up tractor, at a farm in my hometown. So creative!

I really had fun with this project and hopefully you liked it too. I will share the rest of the pages soon. Happy new Year!!
