Body Restoration-Week 2

This weeks lesson started by having us think of the negative way we see ourselves and the way other people see us (or at least the way we think people see us). It was also about all the possitive that we can see, do, be. Though we all have things that we do not like about ourselves, there are so many more things that are good, even great, about us. At least that is what I have discovered. The art involved a possitive outlook:

But, it started by delving into the negativity. I have to admit that I did not like dwelling on the negative, because I know that I can improve on all the things that were on my list:

I don't remember where I found this sign, but I like to look at it evey once in a while to keep myself possitive:

2012 is my year of health and well being.

I am not getting any younger, but

I am enjoying the journey!

Body Restoration-Week 1

Well...I made it through my first week of the Brave Girls Club Body Restoration class. While I can not share all the details of the first lesson, I will share my first art project.:

It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to set up my page. I like the simple design I ended up with. I did not want it to be exactly like Melody's. I wanted it to be own design. My book, my look. Ha! I made a rhyme! The homework assignment was tough. Not in the sense that I couldn't do it, but tough in the way that it made me have to be honest with myself. To write it down. There it was in black & white. It is definately eye opening and scary, but I can do this. I want to do this. This is my year to be healthy!

Here goes:

1.) This year I really want to have a healthier lifestyle.

Living with 2 guys who love to eat all the time makes it tough. I have joined Cathy Zieleske's 'Move More-Eat Well 2012' challenge. One step at a time. I need to do this for me.

2.) I have decided to do 'Project Life' to document (#1 above)

I really had no interest in Project Life initially. Becky Higgins style is very simple.

She is very talented, but that is just not my style.

Funny thing is, the more I looked into Project Life.

the more it looked liked a perfect idea for this.

3.) Things are changing at work

We merged with another company.

There is a lot of negativity out there right now.

People are nervous.

I enjoy my job.

Yes, we are growing.

Yes, things are changing

and

yet it is just the same.

Until I am told different,

I will just keep on doing what I do.

4.) Out with the old

I am so sick of the clutter and unfinished projects here at home.

I have already started getting rid of so many things that we have not touched or even looked at in years.

YEARS!

Many garbage bags have alreaady been filled and and sent to the landfill.

I was beginning to feel like a hoarder'

Yuck!

There is also paint and repair work to be done.

It is crazy!

It needs to be done

It has been too long.

5.) We need for Bryant to try harder in school.

We do not want him to just 'get by'

He is so smart.

We are hoping this is just a phase.

He knows his stuff,

but just will not try.

This is hard for me.

I never had a hard time in school.

Sometimes I barely studied and I still got "A's"

It just came naturally to me.

We think these days there are just way more distactions.

We are working on fixing that.

We just want him to succeed.

These are just some of the things that I am concentating on right now.

The important things at the moment.

Resolutions?

Maybe.

I do not want them to fizzle out,

like most do.

One step at a time.

These are my twelve favorite layouts of the past year.

I could not pick just eleven.

So...I narrowed it down to twelve.

In no particular order, here they are.

1.) Christmas pj's

This layout was for a 'cardstock only' challenge I hosted over at Let's Scrap earlier this year.

I had a lot of fun with this one!

2.) i-rock

I love these cool pics of B with his paper jamz guitar.
This layout was created for a challenge over at 'The Scrappiest' site.

3.) Vintage Santa

This layout was done for a challenge over at the Jenni Bowlin blog.
I love this pic of Bryant:

4.) Adam Vinatieri

Another layout done for a Lets Scrap challenge. I met Adam Vinatierri a few times, all those years ago. Oh, how I loved him. This pick was taken when I was about 7 months pregnant with Bryant and before the Superbowl wins.

5.) Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall

This layout was for a challenge over at the Memory makers blog. This tree is outside the cafeteria at my work. It really caught everyones eye with its Fall beauty. I decided to document it for a year. Loved the result.

6.) epic

This is another layout done for a Let's Scrap challenge. I loved Cheri's sketch and this pic was priceless. I had to scrap it. I had too.

7.) Viisi

This layout I made for a co-worker friend. Just for fun. Look how cute her dog is?

This layout was done as another Let's Scrap challenge. This is a pic of Bryant with some of the Pats cheerleaders. he really does look like a handsome young stud, doesn't he?

A hi-lite of my Summer was seeing Josh Beckett & the Red Sox kick the Yankees butts at Yankees stadium.

I had the best time at the Bruins victory parade with B and my friends Heather & Nicole.
We had a great day in the city!

A little more Christmas

I am a huge Harry Potter fan (geek!)

I really enjoyed the books and the movies,

and was kind of sad when the end came.

But...there is a new attaction at Universal Studios in Orlando,

where you can enjoy the Harry Potter expirience.

I have not been there yet, but Steve's mother has.

She got me this shirt:

Can you believe that she held onto it for almost a year, so that she could give it to me

for Christmas?

Here is one that she made me last year. So pretty!

I got this handmade one from Steve's mother as well.. I am getting quite a collection.

We, as a family, from my family, also got a ton of gift cards for the places we go the most (movies, dunkin donuts, the grocery store, gas stations, Michaels and a couple of restaurants). Awesome!

B wanted me to take his pic while he was holding them all:

So... our adorable little Theo has been so good around the tree, all this time.

That was until yesterday....

He was climbing it, biting it and playing with the ornaments.

He was all wound up.

Do not know what brought that on, but it only lasted a little while and then that was it.

Now he is back to 'normal'.

Does't he look cute here?

Even though he was driving me coo-coo at the time?

Time to get more housework done.

Hopefully, I get to be creative today.

Christmas

The countdown to Christmas has come..

and gone.

Lots of presents for Bryant at home...

and at Grammy & Grampies house.

The kitty was all excited.

Some of B's favorites were Tech Deck stuff ...

and a new Nerf gun for the collection.

Theo enjoyed the empty boxes and wrapping paper.

B got this years Hess truck from Grampy. He now has quite a collection.

Anything to do with Transformers is always a hit.

Steve & I (& Bryant) love our new Keurig coffee maker!

But...my favorite gift was this. A Patriot bag from my sister.

Oh and my Mom got one too, Love it! Woo Hoo!

We had a great Christmas.

Kind of glad it is over.

I am so tired.

Home this week.

Planning to get a ton of stuff done at home.

I will be scrapping too.

Christmas Eve Day

Started our day with what has become our annual tradition.

A movie at Jordans I-Max theatre.

This year, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protacol.

It was a cool movie.

But...

what was even cooler?

They showed a pre-view for the Dark Knight Rises.

The newest batman movie, that comes out this Summer.

It looks awesome.

I'm just sayin'...

Then went home to watch the Pats...squish the fish.

Thanks God!

They were very easy to make. Felt, ribbon, paper, prima flowers, bling and just a bit of quick hand stitching and...voila! So cute and festive! I added them to the garland I have hanging in my office:

Burlap Wreath

This week I took Christy Tomlinson's (along with eleven other very creative artists) "The 12 Artsy Ornaments of Christmas" online class. There were so many cool ideas, I didn't know where to start. I think as of today I had 3 projects going at the same time and then today I started another . The wreath below is the first one I have completed. So simple. So unique. So pretty. Even when Steve first saw it, he asked "did you make that today?' Yes. I did. He loved it! I My mojo was in full gear.

Even Theo napping on my crafting supplies, did not slow down my progress!

Printer Tray Deco

I have had a white 7 gypsies printer tray in my stash for over a year now, just waiting to create something special.

So I added some Ruby Rock-it Christmas Cheer papers & bling, a bit of twine, thread, corrugated and gold paint (along with some pics of my cute kid!)

Throw in some imagination and voila!

I think this may be my favorite Christmas project so far.

The wreath above was inspired by this on the Basic Grey blog & this on the Pink Paislee blog. Basic Grey did double layers with all neutral matching color to create a wreath. Pink Paislee created a mini version, again with double layers to create a wall hanging. Both are very pretty. I created a larger version, but with only one layer and lots of color. I used a bunch of the goodies that I won from Bazzill at IU. It looks so festive hanging on one of my kitchen cabinets.

Christmas Cards

I met this sweet creative lady at Inspiration Unlimited this year. Her name is Joanna Baxter and she is the owner/creator of a new scrapbooking company called Ruby Rock-it. It is based out of Australia. Loved her accent!. She did a fun Christmas card make-n-take on Friday night:

I look for inspiration everywhere. One of my favorite places to go for mojo is Pinterest. It is such a happy place. So many ideas to be found there. Like for instance, inspiration from this beautiful color pallette:

Why a pic with me drinking a smoothie? Two years ago, when I was at the IU event in Vegas, I discovered THE greatest smoothie place. I tried it once and I was addicted. When I was there this year, I went there everyday. I told you that I was addicted! Ha! After 3 days, I was greeted by name. Crazy, I know! Great customer service...

I completed a ton of layouts and have been having the best time scrappin' over the past few days. I finally got my mojo back. It has been a while. Now I am totally in the mood Christmas crafting. Woo Hoo! Bring on the holidays!!

Fall Smiles...

Fall is beautiful here in New England.

I love that it is still warm and sunny.

It is beautiful weather for apple picking.

My Mom and I take Bryant every year & he loves it.

Even though we go to the same place every year,

I still take lots of pics.

That of course I need to scrap-ha!

I tend to usually gravitate toward Christmas papers

for these layouts, because the red & green is perfect.

These papers are by Ruby Rock-it.

It is their new Christmas line, that I got for free at IU.

(Woo Hoo!)

Also every Fall, Steve & I get to catch up and visit with our friend 'Fitzy'.
He is amazing!
Dinner & a comedy show, hosted by the one and only.
It is a great time (and one of our few date nights).

But, at the moment, I have to say that this makes me the happiest:

Ten on the Tenth

I have seen people do this on different blogs. Top ten lists.

My favorite is 'ten on the tenth'.

So...in no particular order, here are 10 things that I love.

1.) Pics like this make me happy. Ahhh.. Fall in New England. I love our annual trip to the farmstand, to pick apples and pose among the pumpkins.

2.) Sketchpad is Kelly's newest online class. Great ideas from some of my favorite peeps!

3.) This beautiful kit from Scarlet Lime is due to arrive very soon. Sadly, it will be my last for a while.

4.) I love a good sitcom to take my mind off everything. '2 Broke Girls' cracks me up!

5.) 'The New Girl' is another fun sitcom that I love!

6.) Two more races in the 2011 Nascar season and my man, Tony Stewart is in a prime spot to win the championship. I am over the moon excited! Go Tony!

7.) I love Darren Criss (who plays Blaine on Glee). One of the best lines said about him, was on Glee this week. "You are like sex on a stick and you sing like a dream." Yes!

8.) I love this man. Ever since saw him (that would be season 4 of The Shield) and now he is on Hawaii Five-0. Hot!

9.) Though I have not done much scrapbooking lately, I have been a bit crafty. Like, I painted this fun skeleton. Since I work at a medical company, I thought he could hang on my office wall all year long. Fun!

10.) I was asked by a co-worker to decorate a donations box for a fundraiser she was having. I was more than happy to oblige (and to use up some of my pretty Scarlet Lime kits, that are sitting around in my stash).

I want my Mummy

A couple weeks back, we went to a very cute, small town, pumpkinfest. We had a great time walking around and checking things out. That is where we came across a very fun vintage shop that sold all sorts of things, from ornaments & wall hangings to books, toys & furniture. It was pretty cool! That is where we found the "I want my Mummy" sign. It was such a cute photo op & of course, I had to scrap it! I had to!

This cute layout was one of our make-n-takes (Teresa Collins new Haunted Hallows line) at Inspiration Unlimited, last month. I am not much of a Halloween scrapper, but I love to do Fall layouts. Well, wait, I take that back. I have many Halloween layouts, just not in the traditional orange and black background. Bryant's costumes always seem to clash with those colors. I loved this, but still had to tweak it a bit. I had to add my 'Dawn' touches to it. I changed some things, moved some stuff around and even sewed on the page. Loved that I had the foundation of the page, but loved that I could make it my own.

This amazing box of goodness (delivered by the big brown truck) showed up on my doorstep today.

Who doesn't love all things Bazzill? I mean...WOW, right?!! I was one of the few (lucky!) ladies that were picked in a random drawing (during a super cute minibook class) taught by Joey Otlo (below with TC herself) at Inspiration Unlimited. I had no idea what the prize would entail, but when it showed up today, it was more than I could have ever imagined.

This is the class that I took with Joey. How cute is this?!! It is so colorful and fun!

I can not stress enough how lucky that I have been, to be able to go to Inspiration Unlimited these last couple of years and I am really looking forward to next year already!

Learn Something New Everyday...the second half

Yay! I completed Shimelle's Learn Something New Everyday class. This makes me so happy. It was quite the project. Learning, creating and sharing. It is a big deal. Some lessons are simple & fun and others are a work in progress, but great lessons all the same. I shared the first half of my mini book here and below is the completed second half.

Starting with my cover. I know I shared it before, but here is how the book looks completed:

Page sixteen: Everything old is new (and funny!) again. I loved that my son discovered Bazooka bubblegum and how excited he was ('Look, Mom there are funnies in with the gum!") Reminded me of my childhood.

Page seventeen: One can survive on the basics. I loved this sign that I saw in a very tiny town in Tennesse(population 321-really!) No Mickey D's. No Walmart. Maybe even no cell signal...

Page eighteen: No matter where I go, New England will always be my home. Very true! There is no place like home.

Page nineteen: A little TLC goes a long way. Bryant brought home this itty bitty tree over three years ago and it still continues to grow ansd thrive. We love our little tree!

Page twenty: I will always have a 'tom boy' streak in me, but sometimes I like to be girly. I recently got my first pedicure and it made me feel so pretty and girly and happy.

Page twenty-one: I need to take time to relax. This is something I am constantly working on, but on a recent trip, I took some much needed 'me time'.

Page twenty-two: I am always in such a rush all the time, that I forget to just enjoy my surroundings. I am learning to slow it down.

Page twenty-three: I think I could survive on peanut butter smoothies. I found a place in Vegas (last year and re-discovered it this year) that makes one that I just could not get enough of. It definately is the simple pleasures in life.

Page twenty-four: One can never have enough friends. I made a lot of new friends at IU this year and can not wait to see them next year!

Page twenty-five: It is okay to spend some time alone. I love my friends and family, but my alone time is very valuable for my sanity-ha!

Page tenty-six: I learned to let go. My son has started to walk to school in the morning. As much as this scares me, he is growing up and needs to start doing things on his own.

Page twenty-seven: There never seems to be enough time in the day. As I get older I am realizing more and more, that you can only do what you can do, in the time that you have. Use time wisely and you will be surprised what you can accomplish!

Page twenty-eight: As much as I love my local sports teams, sometimes they still disappont me. This will probobly never change, but a lesson learned all the same.

Page twenty-nine: Laughter is the best medicine! I love to laugh. This is not a new lesson, but it is one of my favorites.

Page thirty: Changes in the workplace are good. This pic below is the stack of work that I used to have at the end of every quarter. It was beyond stressful. Little changes, here and there, have made it much easier on me now. Still stressful, but much more streamlined.

I am so glad that I took this challenge. It was soooooo worth it! I created the sweet little book with my August Scarlet Lime kits. Look how pretty they are:

All in all, doing this project made me think. I learned some new things and I re-learned some other things. It will be great to look back on it a year from now and see how I have grown.

Inspiration Unlimited 2011-Teresa Collins

I love being a part of the Inspiration Unlimited event hosted by the fabulous Teresa Collins. She is amazing! This was my second year attending and it was even better than last year. I met some very fun people, made some of my favorite projects and I finally know my way around the hotel. It is now like my home away from home-ha!

Teresa taught two classes at the event. One being a travel book:

I love this idea also and have been adding stuff to it daily. Here is my cover. The flower provided in class was green (not like the one above). I did not really like that one, so I changed it up when I got home. I am more of a sunflower/gerber daisy type:

Not only did I have the best tiime at Inspiration Unlimited (Teresa Collins' annual scrapbooking event), but as an added bonus, I made some really great friends!

I met Anita at the airport as we waited (for an hour) for the hotel shuttle. She flew in from Houston and this was her first time attending IU. We found that not only did we both enjoy scrapbooking, but we also both love Wes Welker. Oh yeah!

Wednesday night, there was a small get together (pre IU) for dinner, with Teresa and a bunch of ladies (like myself) that were here a couple of days prior to the event. These ladies were kind enough to let me sit with them at dinner and we got along great. Elaine, Bea and Sandy are from California. (Am I the only one traveling from the east coast?) There were a few others, but not many. I had a lot of fun with these ladies and we are are already planning for next year. So exciited!

Look at us! Looking good, right?! Lori and Stephanie sat with us for our classes all day on Friday. Even outside the classroom, I seemed to see them everywhere I went. I think (no, I know...lol!) that they thought that I was stalking them. But seriously, they were great. Next is Erin. Erin was my roomie for the event. She was great. Easy to talk to to and very fun. She also drove to the event. Yup, all three of these ladies are from Califorinia. I am starting to think that maybe I should move...

I had a great time. I definately made some great friends. One can never have too many friends. We are all going again next year. It will be a great reunion.

I can't wait for 2012!!!

Learn Something New Everyday...the 1st half

Learn something new or re-learn something you may already know. That is the lesson that Shimelle is teaching in this online class that I am taking this month. It is a sort of December Daily type class, but with lessons or observations from our day to day life. I liked this idea and thought that I would give it a try. We are half way throught the month already. I can't believe it. It is crazy, but I am loving it. Here are my lessons for the first through the fifteenth & my cover...

My cover, colorful and simple:

Page one: Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an easy button. I have this one on my desk at work and believe me, there are days that I really wish that it worked!

Page two: It has been a really long time, since I have gotton floweres for any reason, so imagine how happy I was to recieve these beautiful sunflowers, out of the blue. It really makes you really learn to appreciate the little things in life.

Page three: Family is precious. Bryant only gets to see his cousin Ben 2 to 3 times a years. So, anytime they have together is precious. They are more like brothers (and look alike too.) Love these boys!

Page four: I love to read. The characters you meet. the places you go and the things that happen are such a great escape. I learn so much!

Page five: Everything is new again through the eyes of a child. This little guy is my friends' 4 year old foster son. He is adorable. I loved observing him. I (re)learned alot!

Page six: One is never to old to enjoy a fun boy band. My son and I recently went and saw Big Time Rush in concert. We had the best time!

Page seven: Toys are not just for kids. Who doesn't still love to play with toys?

Page eight: Sometimes you just gotta let it rain. As mother always says 'there will be days like these'.

Page nine: I have learned that even at my age, that I am still a bit of a geek. I am okay with that though.

Page ten: I look at this little beat up football, hanging from the mirror, everytime that I get in my car. Sometimes I know how that feels.

Page eleven: This will always be a sad day, but I have learned how brave and strong people can be.

Page twelve: No matter how much time goes by, I still miss my friend.

Page thirteen: I love my son more and more everyday. He makes me so happy!

Page fourteen: happy mail given and recieved makes me very happy.

Page fifteen: No matter what else is going on, as long as the sun is shining, all is good.

So these are the lessons I have learned or re-learned so far this month. I am enjoying this quite a bit. Two more 2 weeks to go.

Something Borrowed / Something Blue

There is something about reading. I have always been a reader. Always have my nose in a book (or books). I love the escape. To picture the characters and get caught up in the story. I bought this book, Something Borrowed, a while back and finally had a chance to read it. I knew they had made a movie based on it, but I still wanted to read it first. I enjoyed the book. It is a story about two friends, Rachel and Darcy, they had been friends since childhood and are now 30. Rachel is the smart, good girl and Darcy is the wild, well connected party girl. Total opposites, which makes for an interesting story.

Of course, after I finished the book, I had to see the movie. The coolest thing, about movies based on a book, is seeing the characters come to life. The movie was okay. It made you feel. They did change a few things, here and there and tweeked the ending. Sort of, tied it up, a bit of a tear jerker of a scene, but it was still different from the book.

There is a follow up book. I bought this one too. Something Borrowed, the first book, is in Rachel's point of view. The second book, Something Blue, is in Darcy's point of view. The second book starts by overlapping the end of the first, but Darcy's version and then it continues on with Darcy's life. The beginning of the story seemed very believable. I understood what was happening to Darcy and how she was feeling, but the ending to this story just does not seem believable to me. That is just my opinion. I do not want to give too much away. I compare it to a movie sequal. You will always go see it, but it will never be as good as the first.

Well, now I am off to pick a another book from my pile of the many books I still have to read.

I just have too!

Blog Your Heart (a Challenge)

I saw this 'challenge' Here and Here and thought I would put myself out there. Maybe writing this out will help me feel a bit better. I don't know....

September 11th is a sad day in all our hearts. It scares me and makes my heart hurt for all the families that lost someone that they love. But, it also makes me sad for another reason. It was a friends birthday. Not just any friend, but a friend that turned out to be my first serious boyfriend. We spent five years as a couple and did everything together. While he was in college in Boston, we spent every weekend together. When he graduated we moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. His parent were there, but I knew no one. Scary for me at the time, but I found a job and met some new friends. Though I enjoyed my job and my new friends, things were not quite what I had hoped for us. We broke up. He thought that I should move back home. I missed my friends, but I was a stubborn 20 something and I stayed. If I was going to move back home, it was going to be my decision. I went on with my (2) jobs at that point and struggles and managed to stay there for 3 years. We eventually became 'friends' again. One day he surprised me with Van Halen tickets, with the understanding that we would be going as friends. He had something else in mind. Right before we left for the concert, he proposed. This was a surprise and something that I did not want anymore. We were just starting to repair our friendship. He wanted me to think about it and I said that I would. The next day he showed up at my house. I told him that the answer was no and I just did not feel the same way anymore. He was devistated. It really was too late. It was really hard for me to not have any of my friends from 'home' with me. I needed them. Eventually,we were able to talk. I decided to move back home. He helped me move back. We drove back with 2 car loads full of my stuff back to my parents. Once everything was unloaded, he left. That was the last time I ever saw him. We had e-mailed a couple of times over the years, but it was really nothing. Last year I was online late at night, I did a search for him on My Space. I just was wondering what he was up to. I found him, but the last postings were from the year prior. They were a bit strange. Missing him on the holidays and stuff like that, so I thought that maybe he had moved. So, I did a google search...and found a partial obit. I thought, this can not be him. It was late. I forwarded it to my my Mom and went to bed. The next day at work she sent me the complete obit. I froze. He had drown trying to save his dog. I did not know what to do. No one here knows him. I already missed the funeral. Nobody contacted me. I was upset. I was disappointed. Some time went by and an old friend found me. I was now on Facebook. We talked on the phone and she told me all the details. She said 'everyone' was at the funeral...except me. They 'tried' to find me. i do not think that they tried very hard, but I let it go. I was just kind of numb. I thought how funny it was that every September 11th I thought of him. I would think Mike is 39 this year, etc. Not even knowing he had passed. He was a part of my life. I just feel there will really never be any closure for me.

I remember every year, as a child (and sometimes even now) my mom reminding me of where she was on November 22nd, the day president John F. Kennedy was shot. Every year. I can almost quote the story. Almost. I remember smiling at my mom, but thinking why would you want to remember that. But, now I realize that you can never forget a moment that is so signifcant. So tragic. So historical. So sad. Now on this date, September 11th, the ten year anniversary of the loss of life, the Twin Towers, the crash at the Pentagon and the terrible plane crash in that Pennsylvania field, I understand.. I know where I was when I heard the news. Or should I say saw the news. I was home on that day with a sick one year old baby. I saw it live on TV and listened to Peter Jennings as he was breaking the news. It seemed surreal. This could not be happening. It was happening. Our country was in crisis. It was like watching a movie, but it was reality.

Time has marched on since then. That does not mean that we have forgotten. We as a country have gotten stronger, but the sadness remains. On this day, the ten year anniversary, it feels like it was just yesterday. It was yesterday. We must never forget! I, like my mother, will never forget where I was on 9-11.

Bryant was only one and does not remember that day, but every year he is told the story, the history of the event of one of the worst things to ever happen to our country. This year they were shown news footage and given flags:

Words to Live By

Last month I joined in at a free online class over at Big Picture Classes. I have taken a few classes over there this past Summer and was intrigued by this free event. Yes, it was a free class, with many of their celeb teachers and tons of inspiration. It was called the Big Idea Festival-Words To Live By. Basically, you were given a new word each day, a page template (if you wished to use it) and a few examples of page creations. The object was to create a page each day with your own interpretation of the word. I created a little 6 x 6 album of all my pages using some of my favorite papers by Studio Calico. I originally was not going to use any photos in the book, but later changed my mind and added a few.

Page 1 is the word share. For this page I chose to list some ideas on sharing:

Page 2 I found a sweet little quote about wonder and for page 3 I used a quote (that I love!) and the definition of less:

Page 4 is the word give. My son really is my pride and joy. For page 5, the word is enjoy. I just listed some of the many things that I enjoy:

Page 6 is the word nest, with a pic of my little family and page 7 is the word cherish. Need I say more?

Page 8 is the word free. Love this pic of B in his flag glasses. I just had to add it, I had too! Page 9 is the word moment. Love those perfect moments. Do you know what I mean? There are so many. No picture here, but I love this camera paper:

Page 10 is live. One thing I have learned in my life is to go for it. If you have an opportunity, take it. This little pic is of me and a few of my co-worker friends on a trip to Montreal last year. Big Time Rush, Baby!

Oh, oh, ohhhhhho...Big Time Rush is in da house!

We love Big Time Rush and we got to see them live and in person. Woo Hoo! They actual did a show at Hampton Beach Casino in NH. B was so excited. There was like a bazillion people. It was a bit crazy. Here are their tour buses.

The line for shirts was never ending, but of course we had to get one!

They even did a show in Boston the night before, but Hampton Beach was much closer, especially on a school night.

B loves his shirt and I think he has worn it 3 times already.

I am so glad we were there, together. It was a very fun mother and son evening!

At every show, they take a picture with the crowd. Here is the one from Hampton Beach.

It was a really great show. My first boyband concert ever. The screaming girls were not that bad. There were lots of families there, moms and dads. The band sounded great and even dedicated one song to the parents. So sweet!

I am so glad we went.

It was fun.

Plus we were not out too late.

The Help, glee 3D & me

I have been wanting to read this book for a while now. I knew the movie was coming out, but I also know that I have so many books in my bookcase still to read. This one was intriguing to me though. Heading out on vacation last week, I knew we had many hours of driving ahead of us. I decided to finally pick it up. I am so glad I did. It kept me interested from start to finish. I was finished this book way before I even got back home. Though I did not grow up in the south and I really can not relate, it did make me laugh, cry, think and try not to judge or assume (you know what 'they' say...) you know anything about anyone. Though this is not a true story, it is a way of life in Mississippi. If I had been born there, it could of been my upbringing. It is just a great story.

As soon as I returned from vacation, I had to see the movie. It was really good. Though they tweeked a few parts of it, it was for the good of the over all feel of the story. I cried (quite a few times, I will admit). I really felt it, seeing the characters come to life. If you get a chance, do see this movie...but read the book first!

As much as 'The Help' made me really think, the 'glee 3-D' movie helped me escape. Even if only for a bit. We went and saw this while we were in Charlotte. It was so good! It made me so happy! I could not get tickets when the glee concert came to this area (they sold out in like 3 minutes!) so this was the next best thing. There were only a few of us in the theater, but we were singing and laughing and just be-bopping around. Love, Love, Loved it!

I really love all the glee cast, but 2 are my real faves. I love Artie! He totally does not look the type, but he is an awesome hip hop singer. Love him!

Then there is Blaine. He is the lead singer of the Warblers. He has the most amazing voice and he can sing to me anytime. Love him!

Yay! We have a long weekend ahead! Do something fun on this last Summer hurrah!

Can I just tell you how much I am loving mixed media art? I mean really. I love it. I have now taken 3 of Christy Tomlinson's online art classes. This is the first time that I have really just jumped right in. I have always been in awe of the creativity that is out there in the scrapbook world (and beyond!) I never knew that I could do it, but I did! I did it! Here is my latest piece. It is the last of the 5 color schemes (aqua/red/purple/green) from Christy's latest class. This was actually Day One''s color scheme, but I did this one last. It was the most difficult one for me. I am happy with the result, but it is much different than the first four I created.

Yesterday I received some very "happy mail" from my sweet friend Jonnelle. A belated B-day present. I love it! So much scrappy goodness here. Lots of Heidi Swapp. I love Heidi and I love Jonnelle! Thank you so much girl!!! I had a very busy, hectic and a bit stresfull week and it was so great to come home to this fun surprise:

Like I said, I love Heidi. She is amazing!

Well...in a couple of days I will be on my way to Charlotte. Yup, a one week vacation with the fam. Very excited! We need a break from the norm. We need to feed our Nascar passion too. ...Oh Tony...wink, wink!

I have not been feeling all that good lately. A bit achy, congested, looming cough. Blah! So, needless to say, this obsessive scrapper has not been very productive. Seriously, this coming from the girl that likes to be creative everyday. Anyways, in the meantime, I thought that I would share a layout that I created a few weeks back. Been holding on to this one for a while. I really love this one, but was not ready to share with the world, until now I guess...

The picture of me below was taken on July 17th. One day before my birthday this year. It was a really good day. I was spending it in Loudon, NH at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It was about 2 hours before my first Nascar race in about 2 years. I was happy. It was hot out. I remember thinking that I had not been here in a while and how glad I was that I had bought the tickets, so that Steve and I could have just an 'us' day. I love this pic of me enjoying the day and knew that I had to document that very moment. I used Teresa Collins' "On the Edge" line to create this page. Typically a 'boy' line, but I am really drawn to all the, dare I say pretty, shades of blue (my favorite color). I had a lot of fun with it and even mixed in some of Teresa's other lines, along with some bling and Core’dinations cardstock for the background. I loved how it all just came together:

I really do plan on scrappin' some Bryant boy pages with these papers too! I swear...

Speaking of Teresa Collins...I got some happy mail today. A cool new shirt for her Inspiration Unlimited 2011. It is just a little over a month away now. I am so excited!!!!

Mixin' it up

I have always been amazed with the creativity of such artists as Christy Tomlinson , Tim Holtz and Donna Downey. They started as scrapbookers and have become much more than that. They are artists, Their more recent endeavors are more toward the mixed media type art. Mixed Media art always caught my eye, but I really never thought to try it. These past few months changed that. I took a couple of online classes with Christy (maybe someday in real life!) I was still just an observor, but then just decided to go for it. These are my first 3 attempts, based on the color schemes provided by Christy in her latest class called "Creative Color-Art Redefined". The first color scheme is black/white/orange. Reminds me of Fall, so that is where I went with it:

The next color scheme was yellow/red/blue. 'Consignment Queen' is a nickname I have at work. It pertains to my job and is really only truly understood by those who work with me. I just had fun with this one:

"If friends were flowers, I'd pick you" is a quote that I always liked, but had never used. I thought it perfectly fit the yellow/pink/green color scheme:

There are a couple more color schemes that I have left to complete, from this mini class. These first three just came to me, right away. It has been so much fun, who knew?

Just a bit more Birthday happies. I received a GC from Studio Calico for my B-day and could not resist getting their newest kit. It looks so Summer-y and reminds me of the beach. I just recieved it yesterday and it is even more spectacular IRL:

I am a bit behind on my posts...again. I really have been enjoying my Summer thus far. My favorite part of Summer is my Birthday. I love Summer. I really did alot this past month and it ended with a bit more of my favorite things. One is baseball and the other is going to the beach. We got a chance to head to Rhode Island to watch A Paw Sox (Red Sox farm team) game. Love to check out our future prospects. The games are cheap money and lots of fun!

We got there a bit early and had some time to just hang out and check out the beautiful McCoy Stadium:

All in all it really was a great Birthday month. Summer is half over already. I still have vacation to look forward to and then back to school . Back to life, routine and reality, but for now I will enjoy Summer as long as I can!

Birthday Fun

It has been quite a sweet birthday month so far. Yes, I said birthday month. I love having a Summer birthday. My birthday is actually mid July, and that is when the good times began. It started with an extended birthday weekend and a bottle of wine...
It continued with a trip to New Hampshire Motor Speedway. This Nascar girl's first Nascar race in a couple of years. Oh Loudon, how I have missed you!

But, I just had to see Tony. I had to!

We had great seats in the main grandstand, so we could see everything:

Tony just happened to be one of the drivers with an in car camera. So, I could not only hear him on the scanner, but I could see him too:

Tony finished 2nd and his teammate Ryan finished 1st. The only way it could of been any better, was if Tony finished 1st and Ryan 2nd:

On Monday, my actual birthday, I went to see the final installment of Harry Potter. I loved the books and the movies. It is sad that this is THE end. I will miss Harry Potter:

When I returned back to work, this sweet little cake was waiting for me. One of our local sales reps dropped it off. Very sweet. This was the only cake I had this year. But in my defense, I chose to have an icecream social at work instead this year, with my co-workers and I really enjoyed doing something different. It was so much fun for everyone on such a hot Summer day.

Later on that week, I had 2 more treats. First Steve and I went to see Jeff Dunham live, at a local club and he was amazing! Funny as ever. We had great seats. I tried to take some pics, but it was too dark.

A few days after that, I found out that I won the latest challenge over at Let's Scrap. The challenge was to use one of their sketches and to sew on a page. I chose one of my favorite sketches by Cheri (that I have been hoarding for a while) and sewwed around the big yo yo sun. A lot of work, I know, but a labor of love. It was worth all the work that I put into it and I was so surprised and excited that I won! Yay me!

Well, so far so good. A great b-day month, with a few more days to go. Maybe I will head to the beach this weekend. I love Summer!

What' New

I got an e-mail a few days ago from Let’s Scrap. They had posted a new challenge in the 'scrap your stash' group. It caught my eye. It has been a while since I played along. The challenge is to use: red, white and blue papers, at least ten buttons, some chipboard in your title and a Let's Scrap sketch (I love Cheri's sketches!). Easy peasy, at least for me. Red, white and blue is a staple for me. It goes really great with my Red Sox and Patriot layouts...lol! Also, here in New England, we are very patriotic. So anyways, I really liked this idea for the challenge and I knew that I had the perfect pics. My mom gave B these very cool American flag shades just before Memorial day. They were a huge hit! I had so much fun with this layout. I used some fun papers from We R Memory Makers called Yankee Doodles. Lot's of sewing, buttons, paper tearing and I even made my own star embellishment's. Here is the result:
There are a few new lines out there, that are really catching my eye, that I thought I would share. There is nothing more exciting than new releases. Again, this is only a few. There are so many! Like I need more stuff...ha!

It is no secret that I love my red, white and blue. I can not wait to get my hands on this new line called Liberty from Bo Bunny:

I love, love, love this new line by Pink Paislee called Vintage Vogue. Very funky and so retro. Awesome!

I got a bit of 'happy mail' today'. A package from my sweet friend Jonnelle with the tags from our 'Summer Lovin' tag swap, along with a little gift pack from our hostess (Thanks girl!). I had almost forgotten about them. What a great treat to come home to! They are all so beautiful! These are some amazingly creative ladies. I love all my tags and I have them displayed in my office,, so that I can enjoy them each and everyday!

We Got the Cup

Being the huge New England sports fan that I am, I was over the moon excited (as was everyone else in New England-hockey fan or not!) that THE Boston Bruins won the 2011 Stanley cup championship. With all our other sports team (Red Sox, Celtics & Patriots) championships over the past ten years, the Bruins were due. So what do we do to celebrate? We have a parade. Not just a parade, a rolling rally through the city of Boston. I just had to be there for this. I had been there to see a couple of Patriot celebrations when we won the Superbowl. It is hard to explain, but it is just something that you want to be a part of. B and I headed in early on the train. It was packed! My friends Heather & Nicole also took the train and we all met up at North Station. It ended up being a beautiful sunny day (it was suppose to rain-ha!) We were right where the parade began, so we watched them prepare. It was very cool. We were caught up in it all and then it was over before we knew it, but we have many pictures to remember the moment. I tried my best to cram them all on this 2 page layout, preserve the memory forever. 24 pics! Amazing, I know, but such a cool memoire! So, here is our part of the Bruins celebration:

The first being Paul Walker. One of the stars from the 'Fast & Furious' movies and also one of my other favorite movies 'Varsity Blues". H-O-T...hot! Next is Bradley Cooper. I have had a bit of a crush on him since he was on the TV show 'Alias'. He has come long way since then. Now, since the 'Hangover' movies, he is has become a mega-star. H-O-T...hot! And...last, but not least.. Ryan Kwanten aka Jason Stackhouse on the HBO series 'True Blood'. If you have enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris like I have, then you also love seeing the characters come to life (especially Jason!). Extremely H-O-T...hot!"He keeps me on Cloud Nine just like the Temps, He's not a fake wannabe tryin' to be a pimp, He dresses like a dapper don, but even in jeans, He's a God-sent original, the man of my dreams... More Pink

Bryant had a fun, end of the year play at school yesterday. Here he is starring as a firefly squid. He was all excited, practicing his lines and the songs they would sing. The only thing he didn't like, was that his costume was PINK. Cool shirt though, huh?
He did great with his lines. He didn't forget and was loud and clear, just like we practiced. There was dancing.
And singing. Lots of fun info about the ocean tidepools. Patience while the others spoke their lines. Also, moments where he looked right at me and smiled. Loved that! All the kids did a great job!

Pink is a color that I do not use often, but given the chance I love to get all pink and girly. My co-worker friend Heather, has the cutest little dog. She sent a pic to me recently. Little Viisi was getting ready for her prom at her doggie day care. Love her little PINK dress. It was the funniest little pic and it made me smile. I was inspired to create. So I came up with the layout below and framed it it up. It now hangs in her office. It makes her smile. It makes us all smile.

I finally got a chance to use a spa gift card I had gotten this past Christmas. My first pedi of the season. It was wonderful! Wish I could do it every week. We only have a couple of months to go barefoot here in New England. Got to make it count. Love my new-ly polished PINK toes!

Not that I needed this, but it was a sweet gesture. One of our local sales reps, that we love, but sometimes brings me a little extra work at some of the busiest times, brought me in this little PINK doughnut. He actually bought our whole department breakfast. I am always asking him if he brought me icecream, but he showed up with this. He said this is better. Well, that is debatable, but again a sweet gesture all the same.

A week ago today, I was here. Heading to to see the a-maze-ing Jason Aldean, live in concert!

He ROCKED the house! Yes, he was awesome!

I saw this movie with a couple of friends recently. I have not laughed this hard in a long time. Very funny!

I also saw the most recent installment of the Fast & the Furious. Lots of action and hot guys!

And...I could not miss out on this. Much funnier than the first one!

Oh yes, I even squeezed in some scrappy time. It took a while, but I pulled together a page about our trip to Yankee Stadium, to see the Red Sox kick their butts. Loved it!

Today was my Dad's B-day. We took a little road trip. Brought him a cake ( and well, we left the present at home!) Yes, we forgot his gift at home, but that is a story for another day. He was happy to see us all the same!

Two more games til the Bruins win The Stanley Cup. Game 6 tomorrow at home. Go B's!!!

Something that I have not done, in quite a while, has been to bake something from scratch. Not that I do not enjoy it, I just do not have the time (or energy!) most days. This past Friday I got some very sad news. It made me think that I just need to make time for the little things. I had come across a recipe for the Best Chocolate Cake earlier this week. It sounded yummy( and I figured I would make it someday). So I just went out and bought all of the ingredients. I woke up early this morning and literally whipped up 2 dozen cup-cakes.

I decided that instead of making a cake, that I would make cup-cakes. Frosted and covered in mini chocolate chips they were ready.

Ready to be tested by B, he waited patiently all day for me to frost them (while we finished all kinds of stuff around the house). I guess he liked them...

It is the little things in life...oh and chocolate is always good too! Ha!

The reason I started scrapping was mainly to preserve my sons childhood memories, but also as a much needed creative outlet. I have always been a crafty person, ever since I was a child myself. It is so rewarding for me everytime my son pulls out an album to browse and says, 'I remember that!'. Love that! I also love to make stuff for others. Like this sweet little birthday hanging I made for a co-worker friends birthday yesterday. Made with some of my favorite things (Teresa Collins Celebrate line and Blingage Stamps!) She loved it!

Another thing I have enjoyed, is being part of a circle journal group and also a tag swapping group. The scrapbooking community is so generous, creative and welcoming, As I have found out by being in this tag swapping group. This time around, our theme was 'Secret Garden'. Here are my versions of that theme::

The next tag swap will be a Summer theme. So excited! I love Summer!

Being creative is my obsession, my hobby. It makes me happy, very happy. Which is the reason i scrap.

Day two of Red Sox opening weekend 2011, we took a trip down to Fenway, just to enjoy the ambiance... ...and also, got to enjoy game 2 against the Yankees (Thanks to a very generous friend!)
Even though we lost (9-5), a great time was had by all.... How can you not be happy here? At THE 'catherdral of baseball'. Yes, that would be Fenway Park. Last weekend we headed to New York...
...to see the Red Sox play the Yankees in the house of the enemy, otherwise known as Yankee Stadium.My man JB (Josh Beckett) was smokin' hot!
He and the boys smoked the Yankees. Yes we won 6-0. Yeah, we 'Beat NY'...
...in their big, beautiful house. Boston is bettah!
Not only did the Red Sox win that night, they also won the day before AND the day after...a total sweep! Speaking of a Boston sweep... how about how Boston Rob totally swept and (finally!) won Survivor! Love it!Ohhh...Boston your my home.. :-)

It's been a while

It has definately been a while since I posted anything. Just know that I have been very busy. This obsessive scrapper may have gotten in a bit over her head. Taking two online sketch classes was a bit over whelming, but I just could not miss out on them. Two creative teachers and so many amazing sketches. These first 3 layouts are based on sketches by Valerie Salmon for Club Got Sketch.
Bryant has been around mycamera and my creative madness his whole life. He still, at the age of 11, loves to have his picture taken. Since my camera goes eveywhere that I do, on one of our daily walks I was able to get these fun random pics that soon became this layout:
How often do you get to use bright colors (even pink!) on a 'boy page'? It worked really well with this fun, almost cartoonish looking layout of B coloring Easter eggs this year. A yearly tradition at Grammy & Grampies house:

B really got spoiled by the Easter Bunny (again!) this year. I love these pics with all his loot, but I have to say that I am not really crazy about this particular layout. It's okay. Just okay. Just not one of my faves. It happens sometimes:

Last weekend was my yearly trek to CKC Manchester. Great retail therapy for the crafty soul...especially at the Studio Calico booth. Which is where I met the very talented Kelly Purkey. It was so cool to meet her and talk about the Sketchbook 3 class. I probably blabbed like a crazy woman, but she was very sweet:

Sketchbook 3...The First Half

Last year I really enjoyed Kelly Purkey's Sketchbook 2 class. I was able to complete 12 great layouts that I love, that you can see here, here, here and here . So there was no doubt in my mind about taking Kelly Purkey’s Sketchbook 3 Online Class this time around. I can not believe that this class is already half over! But, one thing I can tell you is that the sketches are great and I have six fun layouts to show for it...so far!
For sketch one I wanted to showcase Bryant's choice of cake, for his Birthday last month. Everytime we are in the market, he just has to look at the big Birthday cake book. Searching for the perfect cake for HIS day. I was not quite sure at the time why he picked this one, but it turned out great. He has been playing a little golf with Grampy over the last couple of Summers, so I guess it is rubbing off on him..
For sketches three & two, I created a 2 page spread. It is no big surprise that we are huge Red Sox fans. We took our first a trip of the season down to Fenway for opening weekend and were very fortunate to be given tickets to the game that day. Though we lost, the weather was perfect, the day was amazing and that is a win for me.

Sketch Four is a layout I did just for me. I have been taking Melody Ross' Soul Restoration course and it really has me thinking. Thinking and concentrating on myself. I thought these lyrics from Pink's song 'Perfect' were perfect for this page: "...so cool in line and we try, try, try, but we try to hard and it's a waste of my time, Don"t look for critics, cause they"re everywhere, they don"t like my jeans, they don't get my hair, Exchange ourselves, and we do it all the time...why do we do that? Why do I do that? WHY DO I DO THAT?!!"
Sketch Five is all about two old friends just having a good time. My BFF Lisa & I just being silly. I love this girl!
Sketch six was so much fun! I love these pics of Bryant and I at the beach from last year around this time. Enjoying the day. Early Spring. Everything was new again and hardly anyone was there. It was a great day! We love the ocean and are very lucky to live close by. So close that we can go anytime we wish. I really like how this layout came out:

Got Sketch

Mom's favorite is all about skateboarding! From Tech-Deck (mini skateboards), to video games, to the real deal. This year for his birthday he got Tony Hawk's new 'Ride' inter-active video game AND he also got to go Zumiez (a snowboard/skateboard store) and design his own skateboard. Remember this? This was a layout I did based on a Pencil Lines DT sketch a while back. Though I absolutely love this layout, I knew something was missing. I had an additional 5 pictures of B (that were all equally as cute!) that were taken at the same time, but I do not usually do too many 2 page layouts... ...but, when last weeks 2nd sketch came out for Club Got Sketch, I got an idea. I was inspired. Valerie's sketch this time around was a 2 pager. Again, not the biggest fan of the 2 pager, so I smooshed (again! See previous post) the 2 pager together to create a one page layout, with parts and pieces from each and came up with this:

Even though we had snow this past Friday, as a cruel April Fools joke from Mother nature, I still feel the vibe for Spring. The newest Got Sketch class has begun. This time around it is called Club Got Sketch. Valerie Salmon has such a precise, clean, perfected look to her sketches and layouts. I don't think that is really my style, but I love to take a sketch and make it my own. Her sketches are very fun to play around with. This is my take on the first sketch we received. Though I can not share the actual sketch, just know that I changed it up a bit: One more thing that I want to share. I came across Chris DeRoy's sports artwork through mutual friends on facebook. I loved it instantly and became a huge fan. I have shared it with just about everyone I know. He has some great Red Sox and Pats prints, but I didn't see any Nascar, so I contacted him. He had never done a Nascar piece, but he was willing to give it a try. My first request was a Jeff Gordon piece, as a surprise gift for Steve, for Christmas. It came out awesome! Steve was surprised and he loved it. He knew right away that it had been done by 'that guy'. He listens to what I have to say, most of the time. Lol! That guy, would be Chris DeRoy or DeRoy Design(s). Once Christmas was over, I contacted Chris again, for a Tony Stewart piece, for me. It came out great! Both pieces now hang side by side (no rivalry here!) on our bedroom wall. Don't they look great?! Check them out:

One More Time

I decided to throw my hat in the ring, so to speak, one more time and try out for another Design Team. Not just any Design Team though, the first ever Donna Salazar Design Team. Sadly, I was not picked, but I did want to share some of the fun projects I created with her gorgeous Mosaic papers. To apply, she wanted to see 5 projects. One layout, one card, one one altered item and the other two were the artists choice. I chose to do three altered items, a card and a layout.

Here is my layout. I took this picture of Bryant on Christmas day this past year. Christmas is always a busy day for us. We start at home, then head to Grammy & Grampy's and then back to Nana's & Steve's side of the family. The day was only half over at this point and he was already pooped. Poor baby...

Here is my first altered project. I decorated a wooden clipboard with pics of me & my BFF Lisa. I am going to give this to her for her Birthday next month. I can't wait. I know she will love it.

This is the card I made. A simple any occasion card.

This was actually the first altered project I made for this. A pretty little girlie mirror.

This is my third altered item. A little wooden crate, that I painted and filled with some pretty flowers, soaps and washcloths. Not sure what i am going to do with this. Maybe a gift or maybe, I will just keep for myself. It would look really pretty in my bathroom...I'm just sayin'...

I think this will be my last try out for a while. I worked really hard on this one and I will admit that I am very disappointed. Oh well.

I have lots of up and coming projects to keep me busy. I am participating in another tag swap with some very creative & talented ladies. The newest Got Sketch class starts on Monday. Here, There and Anywhere...

First of all, Bryant had a great Birthday. I really can not believe that he is eleven. Wow. We will be celebrating a wee bit more with Grammy & Grampy this weekend (with a much bigger cake!) that we ordered, just for that day. Woo Hoo!

The definition of epic is: heroic, majestic, impressively great. In my opinion, that is a perfect description of one of my favorite Pat's players, Wes Welker. Every Summer we try to head down to Foxboro MA to check out a day of pre-season Pats training camp. A preview of the players and the upcoming season. This year we were beyond excited to see the return of Wes Welker after a devistating knee injurythat happened in the last game of the season from the year before. He worked really hard in the off season to rehab and heal to prepare and be ready for the next season. He did it! He is amazing and I would say that is truly epic! I took a few pics that day and one of my favorites was Tom Brady throwing Wes a pass. Brady to Welker. Just like old times. Just like he was never even hurt. The only sign of injury that day was the knee brace he was wearing. Other than that, it was just another day at training camp. Everyone there that day was so excited to see Wes back.

I really wanted to document that day, that moment. Here is my layout:

Speaking of epic, this is also my sons newest slang term. "I am so epic!" He like to use this phrase and make a face like the one in the picture below. Silly I know, but it always makes me laugh. Of course I did not want to forget about this and I just had to document it. Ahhh, memories. This may be one my favorite layouts at the moment. It is just so colorful and fun.

I know I haven't blogged much lately. Lots of stuff going on. Just know that I have been working on some really big things. Busy, busy,busy. Pray that they pan out for me. I am hoping that something epic will happen for me in the near future!

I am so happy to say, that I am finally caught up on B's school photo's album. It has been completed a bit out of order, but I am caught up now, just the same. Here is last years school pic, framed by this weeks Let's Scrap sketch:

I heard about a cool new (well new for me!) scrap blog on Facebook. It is called "The Scrappiest". They have some of the coolest sketches (and you know how I feel about sketches!) like the one I used to create this cool layout:

I mean really...how cool is this? I was so inspired. I literally put this layout together in less than an hour and I love the result. Check them out, if you get a chance. I know that I will be back. They are now definately one of my favorite sites!

Season 2 of Justified is just beginning!

My second online class (Re-purpose Re-think Re-invent) with Jenni Bowlin (love her!) starts soon!

I am going to be trying a mixed media (She Art Workshop) online class with Christy Tomlinson (love her too!)

I am thinking of trying this (Soul Restoration 2) online class with Melody Ross (love her too!) -since I missed out on the first one.

I (heart) Alex O'Loughlin. I first saw him on my favorite show of all time (which has since ended) The Shield. Now a few years later he is on Hawaii 5-0.....

When I was out on the west coast I visited the Arizona Cardinals stadium and saw this cool toaster in their pro shop. I knew that I had to get a Pats version for ME. It took a while, but I found one on clearance). I hardly ever eat toast, but how cool for maybe a BLT sandwich, right?!

Steve got me these really cool new sneaks. Pink is not normally a color I go for first, but I was really drawn to these (and they are so comfortable!

I got this really cool bag for Christmas. Something fun. Something retro. I can plug in my i-pod AND the speakers really work. It is so COOL!

The Red Sox season is almost here. This makes me think Summer and this makes me very HAPPY!

Going Green

There is a tree right outside my work. Not just any tree though. The first time I saw it, I mean actually saw it, it was Fall and it was just so beautiful. Everyone thought so. The colors of orange and red. Wow! I took many pictures of it, but none ever truly did it justice. Since I took pics of it in the Fall, I decided to photograph it in all seasons, just to see the changes side by side. It was a great little project that I knew that I would eventually scrap. A year in the making and I finally have. I found the perfect sketch. It is the February Design Team Challenge over at the A Million Memories Blog . The challenge is to use the sketch and frame your photo(s) with letters and numbers. This is such a cool idea! It came together so quickly too. I worked with so many old things from my stash (core'd'nates cardstock, some Basic Grey Lime Rickey scraps, an old metal tag from Stampin' Up, A Studio Calico tree stamp, some bling, some buttons, Thickers and I even sewed on the page!) Very fun and it all came together to make the pretty little tree shine forever. I love how this layout came out!

Creative Souls & Top Tens

I wanted to share two more layouts I created for the Blog Hop over at Let's Scrap. The first one is for Resolution #3. The challenge is to use a LS sketch, at least 3 patterned papers and to stitch on the page. I hand stitched a frame around the pics and used the Crate papers that I won at IU last Fall

Teresa Collins & Janna Wilson are 2 of the most creative souls I know and are just the most amazing and sweet ladies that you will ever meet. I have been a fan of theirs for many years and am proud to call them my friends. I got to spend some time with both of them this past Fall at Teresa's Inspiration Unlimited event. I had these great pics of us and I really wanted to scrap a page, just for me. Here is my page:

Based on this sketch: This next LO is for Resolution #4. The chalenge is to use an LS Sketch and attach a list to the page. I listed Bryant's ten favorite things at this time. Everything I used on this page (with the exception of the tiny red/white letters & numbers. They are from a past Scarlet Lime kit) are from the January Frugal Fab kit that I am giving away as my blog hop prize. Cool right?!! Here is Ten @ 10:

Resolution #7

Last Summer we took a ride down to Foxboro, MA, to check out the Pat's (New England Patriot) football team training camp. It was a great day! I love the beginning of football season and this is a great opportunity to observe all the players, old and new. Very exciting! Speaking of exciting, B got to meet up and pose with 2 of the very pretty team cheerleaders. I took this really great pic and I have been waiting for just the perfect time to scrap it. Enter Kristie's challenge (Resolution #7 ) from the Let’s Scrap blog hop. Her challenge is to use an LS sketch and add a banner somewhere on the layout. Love banners on layouts and I loved this idea. So here is my take titled "Such a Handsome Young Stud":

Here is my newest layout. It is for Resolution #8-Bev over at the Let’s Scrap blog hop. This is for Bev's challenge to use blue and yellow embellishments, black & white photo(s) and an LS sketch. This is such a 'me' sketch and I love a great color challenge. It was perfect for putting together some of my favorite scraps of paper and a couple of my favorite pics of B's adorable mug. Bryant has had the nickname 'B' since he was a baby (when he was then called 'Baby B'). So here is "just b":

Creative Challenges

A couple of weeks back, I came across a challenge on the "A Million Memories" blog. that caught my eye. It was a sketch challenge and a color challenge combined. I had an idea to scrap some of the many love notes my son gives me, so I shopped my stash for the papers & embellies I needed. Even though I didn't make the deadline to enter, I still wanted to play along. I love a color challenge, but this one was a challenge for me. Even though I had all the colors, I probobly would not of thought to combine them together. I was quite pleased with the result. So...here is my layout:

Here is my latest layout for Let’s Scrap. My DT stint is over and I am now a CDT (contributing design team) member. Just about the same access and responibilities and still getting a preview of the upcoming sketches. They are pretty sweet, I must say. It seems like so long ago that I did this layout. These were our first snowmen of the season. We didn't have a lot of snow then and now we have enough to build a hundred snowmen. Lol! I used so many different papers that were out of the norm for me and came up with such a cool combination. I have to say, that this is one of my newest faves. I have been so patiently waiting to share! Here is my take:

I was snowed in today (again!), so I got to work on a couple more challenges for the Blog Hop.( I will share soon!) Less than 2 weeks and it will be over. Time flies when you are having fun!
