Happy Mail, Happy Birthday, Happy Day

It has been really crazy, hectic and stressful at work this past week or so, but it is all temporary and will be back to 'normal' soon. One good thing about having a bit of a commute to and from work is you have some time to prepare (get your head in the game, so to speak) and on the way home, wind down (cranking up my favorite tunes always helps!)

Tonight as I was pulling into my driveway, I noticed there was a box by my front door. My first thought was, that can't be for me, I haven't ordered anything. So, as soon as Bryant jumped out of the car, he ran over to see who it was for. He yelled out "It is for YOU Mama!" and quick;y brought it over. It was then that I saw it was from Tami, one of my favorite scrappy friends. She makes some really AMAZING things and has the cutest kids! Once I got the package open, I found out it was this:

A very cool wooden album. Her LSS sells these and can order them in names and words. She had one made with Bryant's name for me to decorate. I am so excited!! Thanks Tami so much!!! This is the coolest thing EVA! Your card is beautiful too! I am so inspired! I will have to think long and hard to make this a very special keepsake. WOW! Tami this is so COOL! I am sending you a huge cyber hug. I really love this and feel so special that you thought of me. Thank you so much!!

Happy Birthday? No it is not mine, but it is my friend Anne's. I did not want her to think that I had forgotten about her. Love you girl! We need to get together real soon and scrap! Just say the word...

I really can not say enough about all the great friends I have made through this great hobby of ours. You all inspire me everyday! Love you all!

Challenge Fun

Been having fun playing along with a few challenges lately. This first one is for the latest BASB challenge put up by my girl Denise. The challenge this time around was to scrap a day in your life. I thought that this was a cool idea. My day to day life is not extrordinary, but I have no complaints. So in a nutshell, my normal day consists of this: alarm goes off, grab some coffee, watch a bit of my favorite newscasters, hit the road, arrive at work, spend the majority of my day in my office, head home, help Bryant with homework, eat supper, watch some of my favorite shows, a little online time and off to sleep. So I can start the process all over again. Sounds kind of boring when it is all listed like that, but I work hard and I have a lot of fun!

The next challenge can be found here. These challenges came about to motivate and inspire all scrappers who want to play along. This time time the challenge was to use at least three circles on a layout. I scrapped some pics of me and my new hairdo. I sometimes forget I need to document myself too. Plus, it is an opportunity to use lots of pink. How fun!

This last one is my very basic interpretation of the latest sketch at the wij DUS blog, Loved this pic Bryant did of a 'cool' snowman. He ROCKS!!

Had fun with these LO's. You know how much I love a good challenge. Play along with one or ALL of the above. We all need a good batch of 'mojo' sometimes and challenges are the best way for a jump start.

I also got to crop with some friends last night. I worked on my project for this. I can't wait to show you all when it is completed. So cute! I may want to keep it for myself. LOL!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and heres to a great week!

Sweet B-day invitations

I have not posted any new LO's lately, because I had been working on a special project. A co-worker friend of mine approached me last week and asked me if I could make some invitations for her sisters surprise 30th Birthday party. She said she would pay me for my supplies and my time. Of course I said "YES!" A very exciting opportunity indeed. Her only request was that the colors used on the invitations be teal & brown. She loves this color combo at the moment. Other than that I had total creative freedom. I have been working on them here and there over the last week, in between all my other normal Mom/Me/Girlfriend stuff. Hahaha! I finally finished them last night. I was so happy that they were completed and that I could finally share them. I left them on her desk this morning. All wrapped up in a bow (presentation is everything!) I couldn't wait for her to see them:

She was thrilled and so was I. Here they all are, the same, but different:

My first satisfied customer. Now I am off to my next project or to finish off one that I had put aside for the time being. I did have a 'paying' customer you know. How cool, right?? :-)

Totally un-scrap-related, but scrap worthy...

Okay, so today I was walking around my local Walmart, just browsing, when I was stopped 'dead in my tracks' by this:

Yes, that would be HIM. The hot young man who portrayed Edward in the movie version of the book 'Twilight'. LOVED this :

Who would of known that this sweet boy who played Cedric Diggery in the Harry Potter movies:

Just a couple of years later would look this...

or this...

or yes, even this...

WOW! Hot indeed! Sweet dreams Twilighters...

My 'Baby' Turns Nine

Bryant had a Birthday last weekend. He turned the "Big Nine". Wow! Nine. Time is flying! This year, at this moment, it is all about Star Wars. The day before his Birthday he recieved a Toys-r-us gift card in the mail from family, so we had to go shopping..right away. The choice? Star Wars Lego's:

On his actual Birthday we went to Grammy and Grampy's house, where he was treated to Chinese food:

A Star Wars balloon:

and a Star Wars cake:

The food and cake were very yummy. When we got home, he got some more Star Wars Lego's. We have been having a hard time getting Bryant to go to to bed, 'cause all he wants to do is play and create with all his Lego's. I can totally relate!

Last month while his couisins were here, we celebrated all their Birthdays together. One is in January and 2 are in March.

Loved the Speed Racer cake. Very cool indeed!

So another Birthday has come and gone. My 'baby' is growing up and I am loving every minute of it!

Come join me in the Garment District

I just have to tell you how much fun I am having with the newest Studio Calico kit called Garment Distict. It is very fun, colorful and quite girly...I must say. LOL! No complaints though, 'cause now I can create pretty pictures about ME! I started with this LO last weekend and I already have more. This LO was just for fun and maybe I am being a wee bit conceited, but if people tell me (I rock) enough times...I may start to believe them:

This card is based on another one of Nancy's beautiful creations. You all know how I adore ALL that she creates!

This LO serves a couple of purposes. The first being a challenge that my friend Debbie and her friends were doing to use chipboard on a LO. I used some of the left over flowers from last months SC Fortune Cookie kit. I inked and used stickes on them. Aren't they pretty?

and second...as I have been sorting through my old photo albums, I have been pulling out pics of me (from over the years) that I really love. This being one of them. This is me way back in 1986, sight seeing in Hollywood, CA on the walk of fame. Tina Turner was one of my faves at the time, so I had to have a pic "with Tina".

Okay, so I did actually get one 'boy LO' out of it, so far. This is Bryant's first skateboard. He loves it and aspires to be Tony Hawk one day, but for now he needs to learn balance.

The kit actually comes with a set of Sass alphabet stickers, but I used them as a stencil (along with spray paint and cheesecloth) to make a cool grungy title. I love the way it looks!!!

So this is what I have so far...with more to come. I have got many more projects in the works. I always have somethin' goin' on...
Oh and Ki, if you are out there, I have big plans for your gift from the post below. Thanks for playing along!
I Love to make gifts for my friends and family. You can still play along too. Check it out. You know you want too.....

Pay it forward

I saw this on my friend Debbie Hill's blog and I decided to play along.

Lucky you!

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me!

My choice.

For YOU.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1 - I make no guarantees that you will like what I make! (But, I really hope that you do!)
2 - What I create will be just for YOU.
3 - It'll be done this year (might take a little while). I will do my best for it to be sooner than later...
4 - You have no clue what it's going to be. It more than likely will be a paper creation!
5 - I reserve the right to do something unique/different. Remember this will be for YOU!!

The catch?
Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me!

Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

Good luck!

Weekend Fun

I had a pretty great weekend. Friday I received the newest Studio Calico kit, Garment District, along with the Tafetta add on. Absolutely gorgeous I must say. I have lots of creative ideas floating around in this brain of mine. I did manage to put this LO together based on a sketch by the fabulous Janna Wilson . Love the colors of these papers and thought I would play around with color, based on that. I liked the result:

I really love color! This LO is based on an online video class over at Got Sketch 103. While my nephews were here last month, we celebrated their birthday's and Bryant's all together. Who doesn't like cake, presents and a little Speed Racer??

Lots of DVR'd U2 from over the past week made me really happy. I can not get enough! On Good Morning America Friday, they preformed at a college in NY. Lucky kids!! But I do have to say, that none of those kids were even born when I first started listening to U2! LOL!!

The Nickelback concert this past Thursday was good. It's been a while since I had been to a 'rock' concert. Oh how times have changed! I will leave it at that. We also saw the movie 'Mall Cop'. It was cute and funny, but definately a rental. Much cheaper to do that too! It was a good night out though. How was your weekend??
More to share soon. Have a great week!!! :-)

Happy Tuesday

Yes, I said Happy Tuesday! Well. it was actually my Monday today due to the inclement weather (and it is now March!) that we keep continuing to have. I am really ready for Spring! I did manage to finish a couple more things this past weekend that I wanted to share. First one being another LO for Got Sketch 103. (I told you this helps me get a ton of scrapping done!) This LO is of Bryant and his much older stepbrother Stevie. They have a lot of fun together and seem to have a lot in common despite the age difference, LOL!

I finally finished the pages for Denise's circle journal. I had a bit of a tough time with this one. but was happy with the result. Her theme was 'All About Me':

I came home today to some very happy mail. A beautiful card from Diana . This really made my day! Thanks girl!!

And last, but not least, the new CD from U2 came out today. I have loved this band for many, many years. I guess I am aging myself. LOL! Their music brings back many fond memories. I remember camping out on the sidewalk for tickets with an old friend (remember when we had to do that?) The tickets sold out in about 8 minutes, but we were lucky to get ours. We were in the second row! That is a show that I will never forget. Ah, memories. :-)

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I am looking forward to seeing Nickelback in concert in a couple of days. Very excited! Will share more soon. Have a great week!
